2019 Jon Schueler Scholarship
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig,

Isle of Skye, Scotland

I am overwhelmed and honoured to be awarded the Jon Schueler Scholarship for 2019!!! Selection involved a lengthy process of being shortlisted from over a hundred applications from around the world, followed by an interview via Skype with a panel in Edinburgh.

For 12 weeks from late July to October, I will be artist-in-residence at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language, Culture and the Arts, on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

Focusing on themes of grief and mourning in the face of climate change and irreversible damage to the environment, I am really looking forward to engaging with Gaelic culture and developing a new body of work inspired by traditional songs, poetry and the extraordinary landscape. This is a real validation of the direction my work has recently taken, and an incredible opportunity to extend my practice further.
